Purlsy Updates
Early Access Week 15, June 19, 2026
Felting is now a fully supported craft type, covering both needle and wet felting. Pick it on a new project or swap an existing one into it for fields tuned to the technique: technique (Wet, Needle, Combo, Nuno, Cobweb, or Other), project type, needle gauges from 32 to 42, and switches for a sculptural armature and a hollow-form resist. Fibers use the same card as spinning and carry cleanly when swapping between Felting and Spinning. Thread Collection: your stash now tracks thread alongside Yarn and Fiber, with one page for both embroidery and cross-stitch floss and sewing thread, brand, color number, family, weight, fiber, and intended use, a per-item unit (skeins, balls, spools, or cones), the full yarn lifecycle (mark used, scrap, destash, log usage), and search support. Search has its own page: a full page you can browse with filters for craft type, project status, and collection details (yarn or fiber, weight, color family, stash status), sortable by relevance, recently updated, or A to Z, with filters that work on their own and a shareable, bookmarkable URL. Yarn cards on a project now have a Duplicate button that copies all the brand, skein, and acquisition details into a fresh card.
Bug fixes: dashboard activity cards reliably open the project on phones, progress milestones at 25%, 50%, and 75% post to the feed again including on older projects, and some pages no longer run off the right edge on narrow screens.
Early Access Week 10, May 15, 2026
Nålbinding is now a fully supported craft type. The single-needle looped fabric technique that predates knitting can be picked on a new project, or you can swap an existing project into it. Nålbinding projects get fields tuned to the technique: stitch type (Oslo, Mammen, York, Korgen, Brodén, Åsle, Coptic, Russian, Finnish, Tarim, or your own) and a connection notation with a monospace-friendly placeholder like UO/UOO F1, alongside all the standard project fields.
Early Access Week 8, April 30, 2026
Fiber Collection: track unspun fiber alongside yarn under Collections. Capture breed or blend, prep, staple length, micron count, brand, colorway, and photos. Quantities are stored in grams with a gram/ounce toggle, and entries get the same lifecycle yarn already has (log usage, scrap remainders, mark fully used, destash). Accessibility batch: Reduced motion toggle that follows your system preference, OpenDyslexic font option, keyboard-only Skip to main content link, descriptive accessible names on every icon-only button across projects, and keyboard support for photo thumbnails and the upload drop zone.
Early Access Week 7 — April 23, 2026
You can now switch a project's craft type after creation, with a preview of which fields will carry across. The Edit dialog warns before discarding unsaved changes. Spinning gains Aran weight, Coil and Beehive plying, a Grist field, and separate Singles and Ply ratio tracking. Project yarns now have an optional Acquisition details accordion (cost per skein, where you bought it, and a purchase link). Made for from Ravelry imports as the project's Recipient field. Date pickers gain month and year dropdowns. Quilting projects can carry a size label like Queen, Throw, or Baby.
Early Access Week 3 — March 26, 2026
Show the love: heart any public project from the feed or a maker profile. Project owners see the count and get a notification. A smarter dashboard feed now surfaces one meaningful update per project instead of piling up every change separately.
Bug fixes: consistent project sort order across My Projects, profiles, and the feed. Pagination at 24 projects. Fixed a yardage unit conversion bug mid-type. Edit dialog no longer resets when you tab away from the browser.
Early Access Week 2 — March 19, 2026
Knitting and crochet projects now have Project Type and Size fields. Recipient is available across all craft types. Yarn entries have a Color Family picker and a Dyer/Shop Link field. Tap the status badge on a project page to change it without opening the edit dialog. Start and finish dates are editable inline with a Today button. Manual time entry added. Text size control in Settings scales the whole app.
Early Access Week 1 — March 12, 2026
Tatting is now a fully supported craft type. Ravelry import brings your full project history over in a few clicks. Project notes now have a rich text editor with bold, italics, and bullet lists. Project filters and view toggling on My Projects redesigned for mobile. Profile preview now matches exactly how others see you.
